Game Schedule

Our game schedule is located at http://warhornllc.com/SnowCon/schedule/month.php. Warhorn is a game scheduling site which allows those who pre-register to sign up for games in advance of the con, which we couldn't do in our first year. It also organizes things nicely!

We can tell you that we'll have Magic tourneys, Munchkin galore, Star Wars Saga, Shadowrun, Axis and Allies, RISUS, Exalted and more. We're adding new scenarios to the list daily, so keep checking back. Last year we had over 50 organized games, and nobody was bored! (Actually, we practically had to pry 'em out of the room!) So we're confident that there will be offerings for every taste in 2010!

Geek Comedian Sax Carr

Sax CarrSean started doing comedy in Washington DC, hosting his own local cable access talk show which ran for five years. He was accepted into Washington DC’s most dangerous comedy troupe Mission IMPROV-able, a group he would later produce and direct for two years. Starting his stand-up career in New York City he has played in various cities and clubs across the nation. He has over 15 years combined comedy experience. He has played at the World Famous Comedy Store, the Hollywood Improv, and Stand Up New York... as well as his first and favorite club the Comedy Connection Portland Maine... He's a lifelong player of RPGs and is one of the most sought after comedians speaking on the things he loves: comics, gaming, superhero, steampunk, and geek culture.

"My material is mostly based on the idea of "what would it be like" if we lived in that world, or around those characters. Face it, the world and lives of our heroes in these games is insane, it doesn't take long for a comedians eye to see that, and that's what I try to put forward."

Sean is one of very few comedians lucky enough to play San Diego Comic-Con, and the world famous Magic Castle (international headquarters of magic), and is most likely the only one who has ever played both. And the first to play SnowCon!

Crossing Shadows - a Shadowrun Short Film

"Doing the same kind of Shadowrun missions over and over again, a bunch of friends try to renew their ideas and organize a live-action Shadowrun mission. The frontier between reality and fiction gets blurry when the live-action mission gets in the way of serious events."

Workshops

Discussion Panel: "The Center for Transformational Behavior" is really your local game store or, what are we really doing in kids' lives?

In 1996 Ray and Patricia Estabrook opened a game store in Belfast, Maine. Their success with kids almost put them out of business until they opened a not-for-profit youth center called The Game Loft where kids could play games and become caring, competent, confident, and connected adults. This panel discussion with the Estabrooks and several of their members and alumni will fill you with hope about the importance of our hobby.

The Game Loft is a volunteer-run community center located in the heart of Belfast and the "Number One Exemplary Community-Based After-School Program in the State of Maine - 2007." The mission of The Game Loft is "to promote Positive Youth Development through games." The Game Loft was established by Ray and Patricia Estabrook in 1998 as a place for youth and adults to share their passion for non-electronic games. They've created games based on historical events, LARPs that teach, and are true believers in the myriad ways games help youth develop into creative, productive individuals. Make sure you check out their website: http://www.thegameloft.org.

Family Gaming with HomeGeekery

Teresa Cassinelli, mother of three, blogger and geek discusses how to motivate your family to game, and the benefits that it brings to families. Making games fun for kids of different age ranges can be a challenge, but the Cassinelli family is creative, hosting regular fun family activities like a household pirate party on Talk Like A Pirate Day, or an indoor maypole for a May birthday.
