The Season 6 midseason premiere of The Walking Dead airs on AMC on Valentine’s this year. But why watch it at home alone when you can party with a room full of zombie fans and see it on a large screen! Who knows … you may even find your zombie love.
Potato League Podcast will be there live podcasting before and after the show and maybe even during commercial breaks.
The Walking Dead Midseason Premiere Party begins at 8 pm at Seasons, 427 Main Street in Bangor, with the new episode airing at 9 pm. This is a free event but a donation of non-perishable food items is suggested and being collected for Shaw House. Attendees must be 18+.
Costumes and Makeup encouraged.
Prizes for most donated items and Best Zombie!
#loveandzombies is presented by BangPop!
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
― George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman
The above quote seems appropriate as we made a very difficult decision to deviate from the year-long plans for BangPop! Comic Con and remove the event from this year’s schedule. Quite frankly, it was not going to be the event that we expect it to be. It is important to us that BangPop! not merely be an adequate event, but be an engaging comic con that is both beneficial to exhibitors and entertaining for all attendees. This is what we strive for and what you will see of us in the future as we plan for 2016.
And that future is now! The eighth annual SnowCon Gaming Convention is just around the corner and all of our energies are being harnessed to make this event better than ever. 2016 will definitely be off with a bang. And a pop.
We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you at future events. Thank you.
The SnowCon Room features both scheduled games for drop-in players as well as a Game Library provided by BAGG (Bangor Area Gamers’ Guild) and open tables so you can play your favorites or learn something new with your friends!

Join the Cirque du Science Fiction!
This July, prepare yourself for BangPop!’s very first Fan Art Exhibition featuring work on the theme of CIRQUE du SCIENCE FICTION. We’re asking local artists to combine their love of science fiction movies/TV shows/stories/characters/tropes with their love (or hate) of the circus in honor of Cirque du Soleil’s recent visit to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Artwork will be available for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the artist.
The exhibit will run from July 16 to August 20 in the Art Haus Gallery within Nocturnem Draft Haus in Bangor.
All work must be framed and physically submitted by July 10, 2014 to be considered for the exhibition. Drop-off location will be The Briar Patch at 27 Central Street in Downtown Bangor. Work will be judged on the basis of theme and available exhibit space. All mediums and sizes will be considered as long as the artwork is framed and wall mountable. Only one work of art per artist per medium will be accepted. Artwork must include the following information: artist’s name, phone number and email address, artist’s website (if applicable), title of artwork, medium used, price (if for sale). Please email BangPop! (bangpop at me.com) with any additional questions.
Do you have what it takes to inspire a new generation of cosplayers in the Queen City of Maine? With her cosmic axe and quantum peavey, Lumber Jill soars into Bangor, Maine to herald the return of the BangPop! Comic Con. But who is Lumber Jill? It could be you!

We’re looking for this year’s Lumber Jill with an online cosplay contest. The winner will be a featured guest and cosplay judge (in costume, of course!) at the BangPop! Comic Con on September 20 & 21 at the Cross Insurance Center. Your entry can be a brand new costume, or you may use elements you’ve used previously; as long as your cosplay captures the spirit and essence of the Lumber Jill character!
Click here for the official rules from our legal monkeys. (If you think that’s derogatory, you haven’t seen Planet of the Apes.) Here are the basics:
All entrants must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the United States.
You may only submit a single photo of yourself as Lumber Jill. This will be used for the voting process.
Entrants must be willing to travel at their own expense to be a featured guest at the BangPop! Comic Con on September 20 & 21, 2014 if chosen as the winner.
Once all the submissions are in, BangPop! Comic Con staff will begin the process of selecting the finalists to move onto the online voting process.
Submissions will be judged based on:
Spirit of character
Once those finalists have been selected, we’ll open up online voting. Finalists are encouraged to promote their entry to fans online, who will have two weeks to vote and choose their favorite. The winner will be chosen through a weighted combination of online voting and special jury selection by our Cosplay Queen — Becky “Aktrez” Young, Mark Ricketts — creator of the original Lumber Jill and a special guest judge.
If chosen as the winner, you will be a featured guest and cosplay judge at the BangPop! Comic Con on September 20 & 21 at the Cross Insurance Center, as well featured on our website and social media channels.
Here’s the official timeline:
June 2 – Submissions open
July 8 – Submissions close
July 14 – Online voting begins
July 31 – Online voting ends
August 4 – Winner announced
It begins, not with a whisper but a BANG…POP!
